Ship repair at Salamina reached a new operational benchmark when IGMAR Group's shipyards hosted two simultaneous drydockings for Magna Marine Inc., executed in collaboration with Naftosol Group. MV PANOCEANIS (Handysize) and MV PANAFRICAN (Kamsarmax) were both in the dock at the same time, with full drydocking scope carried out on each vessel.

Running two vessels through a drydock concurrently demands yard infrastructure that can absorb both projects without compromise, and a management team capable of coordinating trades, materials and technical personnel across both vessels at once. This project delivered both.

The Infrastructure Behind the Operation

IGMAR Group's Salamina shipyards provided the physical foundation. Positioned at the heart of Eastern Mediterranean shipping routes and operating around the clock, the facility's floating dock infrastructure accommodates vessels from Handysize to Panamax class. The combined footprint across IGMAR's Salamina and Perama facilities spans 62,000 square metres, supported by a workforce of over 1,000 professionals.

For MV PANOCEANIS and MV PANAFRICAN, this meant a yard capable of handling two vessels of different classes at the same time without deprioritising either job. IGMAR's in-house workshops handled fabrication, steel works and engineering throughout the project, keeping critical work within the yard rather than relying on external subcontractors.

The works carried out on both vessels covered the full range of drydocking requirements:

• Hull treatment and painting

• Steel and piping repairs

• Cargo hold and ballast tank treatment

• Hatch cover repairs and rubber renewals

• Crane hydraulic repairs and load testing

• Main engine complete overhauling including liner renewals

• Diesel generator complete overhauling

• Safety equipment 5-year servicing

Executing this scope simultaneously across a Handysize and a Kamsarmax required careful sequencing of trades and materials throughout the drydocking period. IGMAR's yard teams managed fabrication and structural work in parallel across both vessels, with Naftosol Group's Ship Repair Manager on board throughout to coordinate with Magna Marine and oversee daily progress.

IGMAR Group provided the physical infrastructure for this project: floating docks at the centre of Eastern Mediterranean shipping routes, in-house workshops capable of handling the full scope of ship repair and engineering works, and a team with more than 50 years of maritime activity behind it.

For Magna Marine Inc., this meant both vessels were handled within Greece, without rerouting outside the region, and without splitting the project across multiple yards or management teams. The owner communicated directly with Naftosol's Ship Repair Manager from initial quotation through to final delivery, with daily onboard meetings on both vessels throughout.
